Saturday,
August 26: John Wayne Pioneer Trail. Beautiful mountain
trail with high curved bridges. Mountain bikes, Cross bikes, or
Hybrid bikes with tires wider than road bikes are best for this good
gravel trail. This is a good ride for beginners because you barely
have to pedal. All down hill or level. About 26 miles. Social
pace. We will be riding through a 2.3 mile long tunnel without
lights so bring at least 2 front lights (more is better) and a rear
light that can last at least 30 minutes. If you can have one front
light that is mounted on your bike and one mounted on your head or
helmet that works well. Bring a sack lunch and drink and a way to
carry it on your bike (rack, handlebar bag, knapsack, etc.). We can
meet at T.J. Maxx in Woodinville to car pool and / or convoy at 9:30
AM or meet at 10:30 AM at Rattlesnake Lake 3 miles south of I-90
from exit 32. We will leave one vehicle there (to take the drivers
back up when the ride is over) and go east on I-90 to Hyak (exit 54)
with our bikes to start. There may be a fee to park (about $5).
Rain cancels. Besides the lunch bring a snack, drink, extra inner
tube, and rain resistant top. Ride leader Bill Lutterloh phone
