From the President

At Alfy’s Pizza, 2317 Broadway, Everett.

 Happy Holidays,

Well, It is that time of year again. My bicycle is hanging on the hooks, fully decorated and waiting for the Christmas party.  The box of white elephants are waiting to get wrapped. This year I even get to lead the pre party light ride.  It has some short hills but not to worry we will be going slow and will probably laughing to hard to notice them.

We will return from the ride to find our party where friends have gathered, set the tables, chilled or heated the beverages and are waiting to welcome us to the party.

Then there is the ride miles awards congratulations to all who have earned them. And thank you to our former president for rounding them up.  This year (unlike the patch kits) I am sure you will look forward to using them.

White elephant gift opening and trading will keep us all laughing as we try to not take home the biggest box, while negotiating for that one thing that nobody
believes is a white elephant.

All evening long we will be talking, eating great food and enjoying some holiday time with friends.

I'll See you at the party

Bill Weber

Club News

Holiday Party Dec. 2

There’s never a stranger at the BIKES Club Holiday Party, where we share good food and great fun with our annual potluck and white elephant gift exchange. The club will provide baked ham, hot cider and non-alcoholic beverages. You bring salad, dessert, appetizer or side dish – as well as non-biking family members.

The annual lighted bike ride leaves at 5 p.m. for a few easy miles (less than 10) of showing off our Santas and such (just throw on a headlight and blinker if you’re not feeling creative).

Gather at 6 p.m. for dinner. Later we’ll exchange gifts – something old, something new, something crazy or something too good to be true. In case you haven’t been to the party before, our gifts run the gamut from “must-haves” and nice re-gifts to “must-avoid” classics. Whatever you bring, bring your sense of humor and don’t spend more than $10.

We ask that you RSVP to Warren (425-743-7593)
warrenbare@verizon.net, this week, but if you haven’t done that yet, we’re always happy to see you anyway!

Visit page 5 for directions.

Club Constitution Vote Dec. 2

We hope to get a quorum for a final vote on a club name change during the holiday party. The choices are: Snohomish County Bikes Club or B.I.K.E.S. Club of Snohomish County.

Polls open at 6 p.m., and the “primary” will end an hour later, at 7 p.m., in case we need time for a second round of votes to get to the required supermajority approval of a new name. Sorry, our club constitution does not allow proxy voting.

Attend the next BIKES Club meeting January 11th at Alfy’s Pizza in Everett for free pizza and a show; AK2FL!

The pizza and soft drinks will be hosted by the club and served promptly at 7:00pm.  The show will start at 7:20pm and will feature a presentation by Randall and Barb Angell.

In 2004 they completed an adventure that most of us dream of; riding from the Arctic Circle in Alaska to Key West in Florida.

They will show us an excellent photo presentation and commentary and will answer questions after the show

Visit their website for more information about their ride. www.teamangell.com
