Club Member Emails

Last month we sent out the club roster by email. Didn’t get it? That means we don’t have your current email address, and we might not have your phone right, either. Please contact Fred Koch with updates at
roster@bikesclub.org

Starting this month, Fred will be sending our newsletter out electronically to all members whose emails we have. You’ll still get a paper version, too, unless you notify Fred that you don’t need it. By the way, if you have a spam blocker, make sure to unblock Fred’s hotmail address. We promise to contact members no more than once or twice a month by email.

McClinchy Mile Meeting Dec. 13

We have started planning for our March 17 McClinchy Mile Ride in Arlington. Several folks have already stepped up to get permits or write letters. We also need help with food purchasing, flyer distribution, map making, t-shirts, volunteer coordination and more. If you’d like to put your 2 cents in on the club’s biggest fundraiser, come to our planning meeting on Dec. 13. We’ll meet first at Romio’s Pizza and Pasta in Silver Lake about 5:30 p.m., then possibly move on to Mike Dahlstrom’s house nearby for the meeting Please call Mike for directions or watch the website for more information at 425-337-0887.

More Club Volunteers

Last month we neglected to mention some stalwart volunteers who help keep BIKES going, and looking good. Janet Orso designed our logo a few years ago and helped with the McClinchy t-shirt and other logo items this year. Wendell Hultman is a regular ride leader. Terry Snodgrass doesn’t ride with us, but she does know how to ride herd over a ride registration or food table.

Fall from Hell's Gate

After 175 miles and 9,000 feet of climbing in Death Valley, I'm feeling pretty good while rounding the corner at Hell's Gate. A momentary stop for turn-point verification appears to be a small personal victory as I pass a number of riders who are refueling in preparation for the final push into Furnace Creek. A little more than 20 miles ahead is the culmination of a season's long training effort that has been a journey of priceless experience.

Visit the BIKES Club website to read the entire story from fellow member, Eric Troili
