Club Bike Box and Trailer

Ready to travel with your bicycle? BIKES Club members can rent our sturdy bike box for airline travel or our BOB trailer to tow gear behind your bicycle. Cost is $5 for a weekend or $10 a week – basically, these are club benefits we want people to use. To arrange for rental, contact Kristin at (360) 658-2462 or another club officer.

BIKES Club Meeting Minutes for 4-12-07

By Tim Wise, BIKES Club Secretary

Debby Grant, Treasurer, presented the spreadsheet for the McClinchy Mile Ride and said the Club made approximately $9,800 with 524 registrants. The club has an additional $5,278 in savings.

Old Business: Frequent Rider Miles Program.  See article inside.

Debby Grant mentioned that we will start talking about the Request for Grants for this year.  Last year we had a couple organizations that we were not able to help.  We will have them contact us with their requests.

Gregg’s Alderwood Cycle is having a grand opening May 5th and we are looking for volunteers to host a club table.

Kristin mentioned that Bike-to-Work Day will be May 18th.  Debby Grant has volunteered to be a team captain and create a BIKES Club Team.

Kristin, on behalf of Community Transit, is looking for sponsors to pay $200 which will go towards purchasing 150 Snohomish County Bicycle maps for the club and 150 for the community.  Debby Grant motioned for the club to be a sponsor, and the motion passed unanimously. The club logo will go on the map.

A few members talked about their favorite ride.  Doug Andrews said the best paid ride he has done a couple times and will do again is the Red-Spoke Bike Tour, to be held July 18-22 this year. This is hosted by the Redmond Rotary and is a fully supported 5-day 300-mile bike ride from Redmond to Spokane.

Doug Andrews asked about the process to buy and install a bike rack to be placed on a sidewalk in a local city or town.  If anyone has any experience or a desire to pursue this question, please contact Tim.
