 Advocacy Brief

Gates on Trails

Mike Dahlstrom and Warren Bare went to the County Council meeting for a couple of things on the agenda one of which was the trail south of Monroe to the county line toward Duvall. Then they went to Parks Dept. and saw Mark Krandel and got an undecipherable map of same. But talking with him about the gates across the Centennial Trail, he said they were not going to put those gates in any future trails. As time and budget allows, they remove them on existing trails replacing them with bollards (per county and national trail standards). Hurray!

We may want to see what the club can do to speed this process by making it a priority in county budgeting and work plans.

Ride of Silence

7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008
Join cyclists worldwide in a silent slow-paced ride (12 mph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. Bicycling itself is a safe activity, unfortunately sometimes road design, driver inattention or cyclist behavior causes an unnecessary accident. See website for details.
