Ride and Club Updates Are On The Web!

Ever wonder if that ride is still on despite the predictions of snow?

Want to see if someone has organized a spontaneous ride on a beautiful sunny day?

Go to the ride_changes page for the latest information on scheduled and unscheduled rides. Cool, huh? Also, if you lose or somehow didn’t receive your newsletter, all scheduled rides are also posted on the website at the beginning of each month.

Ride Around Puget Sound

The 165-mile ride will be held on August 23 to 24.
There are several new aspects to the ride this year.  The route travels on several new, scenic corridors and takes riders across the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge (on a 10-foot bike path).
Sorry, no ferries!

Jerseys instead of T-shirts are available this year.

Explore Idaho trails Sept 4-7.

Rides will be social pace and A & maybe a little B terrain. It will include the East section of the Spokane Centennial Trail, the Hiawatha Trail with 10 tunnels and 7 high bridges, the Northern Pacific Trail with a tunnel, the west 45 miles of the Trail of the Coeur d' Alenes, and the west section of the Spokane Centennial Trail.

Maximum mileage per day is 45 miles. Most trails are paved but 2 are gravel which will require mountain, hybrid, or cross bikes. (Mountain bikes can be rented for at least one of the gravel trails.) Bring at least 2 headlights and a tail light. (I have some lights you can borrow if you let me know.)

We will each need to carry at least the equivalent of 2 water bottles of fluid. We will stay at the Ameritel Inn at 333 Ironwood Drive, Coeur d' Alene, ID 83814. Phone for reservations is 208.665.9000. Other motels or camping near city are fine. Let me know if you are coming.

Leave Snohomish area @ 7 AM, breakfast at Sultan Bakery about 7:45 AM, and Lunch in Moses Lake.

Keep in touch by cell phone. Mine is 425.870.6418. We will start bike riding on the East Spokane River Centennial Trail Thursday, Sept 4 about 3 PM. Take Argonne Road exit from I-90 and go north across river then east about 3 blocks and south to a small parking area with restrooms adjacent to trail.

Washington recently joined a handful of other states offering specialty license plates featuring the "Share the Road" message. The Bicycle Alliance of Washington, the only state wide voice for bicyclists, worked with the Washington State Department of Licensing on the design and approval process.

The idea of the plates is to raise awareness of bicyclists' rights to safely use the road.

The plates can only be purchased from the Department of Licensing for $40.00 plus any applicable fees.
The Bicycle Alliance will receive $28.00 from each plate sold and renewed. The twenty-eight dollars are tax deductible.

The Alliance will use the proceeds to fund safety and education programs, including providing mini grants to schools and community groups to fund programs and projects.

and some leaders maintain regular weekday ride schedules.

If you would like to join, just complete the online application form and mail it to the address
provided along with your registration fee.

To update Membership information click here

B.I.K.E.S rides range anywhere from 10 to 100 miles in length, with varying levels of difficulty.

The Snohomish County area is hilly (mostly gently rolling) and the climate is temperate.
Routes generally follow scenic valleys or lowlands with views of farm lands, rivers,
lakes and snow-capped peaks.
Some rides are scheduled for the scenic San Juan Islands, others for Eastern Washington
(where the sun shines more often), and still others further south in the Seattle area.
Club dues are $15 (individual)  and $20  (includes family).

Non-members are welcome on rides as long as they wear helmets!
