ShakeDown Tour 2023

Bike tour from north Snohomish County near Silvana to a motel in Anacortes and return.  

If you are new to bike touring or you are an experienced bike tourist with new equipment this tour is intended to provide you an opportunity to do a shakedown tour near home to find any problems and get them fixed to help ensure success of a bigger tour later this year. 

Meeting Time & Location: 

• 8:45 AM Wednesday, March 15th to 4:00 PM Thursday, March 16th, 2023
• We will meet at the intersection of 4th Ave NW & 244th St NW north of Silvana.  When everyone has arrived, we will drive to a parking location at a BIKES Club member's home to start our tour.

Register:

• By 8 PM Sunday evening, March 12th, 2023. 
• Group size limited to 8. 

Routes: 

• 9 AM Wednesday March 15th we will roll out. for 42 miles and 1,000 feet of gain.

• Wednesday night lodging at the Cap Sante Inn, Anacortes.
• You must make your own lodging reservations (48-hour cancellation policy). 
• Afternoon of Thursday, March 16th we will return after 38 miles and 1,000 feet of gain.

Pace: 

• The moderate “effort” pace of this tour is intended for riders who regularly ride paved roads at a moderate pace slowed down by a touring load of gear, uphills, headwinds, photo stops, etc. 
• Frequent regroups.
• All riders should have the route information available for their own use (electronic and/or paper) in case of separation. 

Equipment:  

• Your bike must be in good condition and ready for the route. 
• You must be able to do your own minor repairs, including flat repairs, and maintenance.
