UW Cherry Blossom Steady Ride

Between rain and other commitments I thought I'd missed the window this year, but according to the news and campus cam the cherry blossoms on the UW campus are still in full bloom.

The plan is for a casual ride that will leave Echo Lake Park at 10:00AM and head through Kenmore then down the Burke Gilman trail to the UW to see the cherry blossoms.  We'll exit the campus to the south then pick up the Burke Gilman trail to Fremont and return via Green Lake.

The route is ~26 miles near the top of the steady (12 - 14 mph) pace range with about 1,100 ft of elevation gain on A/B terrain.  The main hill is the bike lane up Old Stone Way from the Burke Gilman to Green Lake.  (About 3/4 of a mile at about 4.5%)

Bring the usual: water, snacks, flat repair tools, etc.

For those that have done this route before there will be no tamales this time.  Bummer.  They moved and I haven't checked out the new Fremont location yet to see if it's a bike friendly spot.

RWGPS route will be close to this: Cherry Blossoms but, alas, no tamales.

Steady rain or other excessively unpleasant weather will cancel.

E-bike riders please be aware of the club's E-bike policy
