    Hello club members,

Adopt-A-Stream Foundation is holding an event some of you might be interested in. IT MIGHT BE A GOOD TIME TO PROMOTE MCCLINCHY, TOO!

I am a member of Adopt-A-Stream Foundation and many of you have ridden past it. It’s located on the south west corner of McCollum park, very close to Mill Creek Sports Park. If you haven’t been there, STOP IN SOME TIME TO CHECK IT OUT!

Here are the event details from an email we received.

“My name is Lynsey and I am reaching out on behalf of the Adopt A Stream Foundation (AASF). We are a local environmental nonprofit founded in Snohomish County, and our mission is to teach people to become stewards of their watersheds. We accomplish this mission through stream & wetland restoration as well as environmental education.

Olaf Strad Creek, a tributary to Quilceda Creek, is a local salmon bearing stream that now provides valuable spawning and rearing habitat to Coho salmon after AASF diverted the creek from a roadside ditch, and created a new meandering stream channel in 2021 (read more about this project). Since then, AASF's efforts have continued in the restoration of the riparian zone beside the creek.

On Saturday April 12th, 9AM-Noon, we are hosting a community restoration event, Ride, Restore, Refresh! where volunteers will help in planting native trees and shrubs, and removing invasive species along the stream. The restoration site has limited parking, but it is located right along The Centennial Trail, so we will be encouraging volunteers to bike or walk the trail, to access the site. After the restoration portion of the event, participants are welcome to continue their travels to meet up at In the Shadow Brewing in downtown Arlington.

We wanted to connect with some local Biking groups and clubs in Snohomish County to help promote the event. We hope that some local bikers and cyclists will be interested in participating in this volunteer planting in honor of Earth Month! Please let us know if you would be willing and able to share this event with your members, and if they are interested in participating please encourage them to RSVP.

Thank you! Please reach out if you have any questions.

    Lynsey
