The City of Everett values the safety and well-being of our community and believes everyone deserves to travel safely on Everett’s streets, sidewalks and pathways. That's why Everett launched Vision Zero Everett: A blueprint for transportation safety. Vision Zero Everett is the City’s plan to reach zero deaths and serious injuries on our roads.
The Vision Zero Everett team has met with neighborhood groups, community leaders, and municipal partners in three advisory workshops to share thoughts about traffic safety, high-risk areas on Everett's roads, and identify potential strategies to address concerns. The Vision Zero Everett Action Plan is being prepared with proposed strategies and policies that will make Everett safer to move about in.
The final community advisory workshop is scheduled for Thursday, September 11, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The draft of the Vision Zero Everett plan will be shared with invitees for review on Friday September 5. At the final workshop there will be a brief overview of the draft plan and spend focused time gathering feedback in small group discussions.
I have been asked to bring up to two additional people from our BIKES Club to participate in this workshop. Our function is to represent the interests of bicycling in the midst of other transportation modes. If you want to help influence the future of safety in Everett, and this sounds like your idea of fun, please contact me as soon as possible.
Have a great ride!
