    Single lane alternating traffic begins on Lowell-Snohomish River Road Monday, July 27

    New construction phase begins on SR 9 Marsh Road to Second Street Widening project near Snohomish

    SNOHOMISH – Lowell-Snohomish River Road will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic beginning as early as Monday, July 27.Construction crews will install an automated traffic signal that will alternate directions of traffic 24/7 through the State Route 9 Marsh Road to Second Street Widening and Bridge Paintingproject, just west of the City of Snohomish. This alternating traffic configuration will be in place for the next several weeks and will lead into a full 30-day closure of Lowell-Snohomish River Road.

    What to expect
    Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, July 27, travelers using Lowell-Snohomish River Road should expect delays of up to several minutes while an automated, timed signal alternates traffic through a single lane in the project work zone near the SR 9 Snohomish River Bridge.

    30-day full closure of Lowell-Snohomish River Road
    Beginning in mid- to late August, Lowell-Snohomish River Road will close around-the-clock for a planned 30-day full closure. During this closure, crews will install new girders and begin in-water work to build two new bridge piers in the Snohomish River.

    Detour route
    Eastbound Lowell-Snohomish River Road traffic will be detoured to South Second Avenue/Lowell-Larimer Road to Marsh Road and continuing to Airport Way/Avenue D. Westbound traffic will follow the same detour in the reverse direction.
